Hey, wasn’t this bidded out last year? I’ve seen the ideas for it. Don’t own a vessel, though.
Dateline 2012-04-20:
Malaysia’s Petronas Carigali has started a pre-qualification exercise for a multi-year contract on a vessel-based chemical enhanced oil recovery (CEOR) project at the producing Angsi oil and gas complex off Peninsular Malaysia.
An invitation was issued to vessel operators, which are expected to take the lead in pulling together bid packages for the supply of a floating CEOR unit.
Petronas’ floating production division, MISC, and Malaysian duo Bumi Armada and M3nergy are among those invited to respond to the pre-qualification call.

No food recommendations this week. I was in Brunei last week, and came to the conclusion that the buka puasa buffet is not well practiced in Kuala Belait. Can’t beat the price, though. Around B$9/pax was the most expensive one I found.

I’ll just pull out what I think are the pertinent paragraphs from this Bernama article, dateline 2010-06-19:
Adamus Avenue Sdn Bhd (AASB), which launched a conditional takeover of M3nergy Bhd, offering RM1.85 per share, has received over 71 per cent acceptances for the voting shares of the oil and gas services provider, as of June 19.
Companies controlled by major shareholder, Tunku Datuk Yaacob bin Tunku Tan Sri Abdullah, who owns 71.14 per cent of M3nergy, have confirmed acceptance of the conditional offer.
…
Meanwhile, it was reported that AASB is a private company owned by Datuk Shahrazi Sha’ari, who is the current Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of M3nergy.
Can you say, management buyout? We look forward to the new owner sending all their specialist process work to us.

- I see that Qatar Petroleum is looking for people. Too bad that it isn’t looking for engineers, mainly ICT, Software Application Specialists, SAP people. Apply here.
- Murphy is looking for support staff as well, Computerized Asset & Maintenance Management System Tech (this should be outsourced to Synergy), Network Admin, Comm/Planning, Exec, T&T Exec, HR Exec . What is this, hate your engineer week? Sigh, if you really must, send your qualifications here.
- TÜV (you know, the qualification body that gave me FS Engineer status?) is looking for an ISO auditor. Send your qualifications here.
- M3nergy is looking for Manager – Corp Comm, Manager (Finance/ Accounts), Snr Exec (Finance/ Accounts), Accounts Assistant. Another ‘no engineers needed’ add. Send your qualifications here or snail mail to M3nergy Berhad, Central Services Division (Recruitment Section) 25th and 32nd Floor, Wisma UOA II, 21 Jalan Pinang, 50450 KL.
This week’s food recommendation is Paya Serai, PJ Hilton. This is where the IEM Oil, Gas and Mining Technical Division relax after having our daily smoking session where we discuss the cricket scores, the affairs of Brunei, state of the Commonwealth and toast to the health of King Edward.

Another week, another scan of the Saturday Star newspaper. Here’s a list of job ads in the paper:
- ExxonMobil has an advert for a wellwork supervisor. Did I mention an ex-EPMI gathering is planned for April 24th?
- Unintentionally I’m sure, but on the same page, Helix RDA has an advert for reservoir engineers, completion engineer. Helix RDA is a fully integrated subsurface and wells consultancy.
- Occidental Petroleum of Qatar Ltd. (OPQL) is looking for an operations engineer. Job ref: 6175. To apply via the Internet logon to: www.oxy.com, click Careers, click Available positions, click Vie Open Position, Select: Location QA-Doha. There, I’ve contributed to the Malaysian brain drain. PETRONAS, please stop me.
- M3Nergy is looking for a marine engineer (conversion). That’s converting a tanker to an FSO/FPSO.
Sigh, since I have moved with Synergy out of KL, will you patronise Chee Meng in my memory? Or invite me to meetings around Bukit Bintang at lunchtime? Is he doing packet specials?

Another week, another scan of the Saturday Star newspaper. Here’s a list of job ads in the paper:
- PETRONAS (all capitals, please) is recruiting. The online ad version of The Star isn’t clear, but I think there’s an Open Day from the 24th-26th Oct, 2008 at the JW Marriot, KL. I wonder why they didn’t do it next door at the Mandarin. Too expensive? Anyhow, they are looking for people with at least 7 years experience, which leads on the the next ad.
- Synergy Oil and Gas Engineering is recruiting fresh chemical engineering graduates, or those with around 1 year experience. CVs may be sent to enquiry@synergykl.com.my.
- The Kuwait Oil Company is looking people. You can visit the job website and send your application here and here. The engineering positions they offer are for process, reservoir, petroleum, drilling, planning, cotnracts, maintenance, material, cost estimation, safety and enviromental. In a nutshell, ask and you will find an opening.
- QP is looking for a lot of people. You can visit the QP website. Did I tell you that QP’s SWB (salary, wages, benefits) package is something to be sneezed at?
- M3nergy is recruiting. CVs may be sent here. HQ-based positions available are for planning, marine, QS.
- RasGas is looking for a rotating eqt and mechanical integrity specialist. . Snr Integrity, Snr Mech, Snr Programmatic, Snr Elect/Power, Measurement Specialist (Way hay!), Snr Rot Eqt, Snr. I&Control, Analyser Eng Specialist. CVs to be submitted here. I believe RasGas is a JV, one of the partners being ExxonMobil.
- Delcom (public holding company Deleum) is looking for a Evaluation engineer. At least 2+ years experience. Hah, you have to send a hardcopy CV to NOV ReedHycalog, 4th Floor, South Block, Wisma Selangor Dredging, 142A Jln Ampang, 50450 KL. Closing date is 18 November, 2008. Always a good way to weed out the trawlers from the dedicated applicant.
Anyone know if Chee Meng is going to open a branch is SS15 Subang?
